NECTER (North East Centre for Transformative Education and Research) is the co-ordinating body for RCE North East, a network of formal and non-formal education organisations and institutions recognised by the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Study (UNIAS) as a Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) in Education for Sustainable Development. It is part of a United Nations initiative to promote Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in a growing global network.

NECTER is a legally constituted Community Organisation formed in October 2011 to co-ordinate RCE North East.
